What’s Going on Behind the Scenes of the MFC
Knockout artist Roger “The Hulk” Hollett is finally back in action after being sidelined for a year with a knee injury. This will be his first title defense since manhandling Victor Valimaki and winning with a tap out due to strikes victory early in the first round. At MFC 18: Famous Newton (17-3) dominated David Heath to secure his shot at the MFC world light heavyweight championship. This championship bout will co-headline MFC 19: Long Time Coming
Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford is a force to be reckoned with. Ford showcased his determination at MFC 18 when he submitted hard hitting LaVerne Clark in the second stanza to secure a Rematch with MFC welterweight champion Pat Healy who is also the only man to ever defeat Ford. Critics say that Ford is getting way to predictable with his aggressive takedown and ground and pound tactics, people are recognizing Ford throughout North America for his powerful victories but this sport as so many different ways to win and lose that critics finding Ford’s fights to be predictable and now out dated and saying that a good Jiu Jitsu fighter will always see victory over Ford aka showcased to Healy in their first fight.
In 2008 the MFC focused on their 155pound division and successfully stacked that with some of the best fighters from around the world. But now after dropping the “boring” heavyweights and bringing in the “exciting” featherweights this class as been getting filled with some of the most brilliant fighters in the division. At MFC 19: Long Time Coming we will witness the first official featherweight match-up between charismatic knockout artists Mike Bruno (9-3) against undefeated superstar Kyle Dietz (12-0). This fight is rumored to open up the television broadcast on HDnet.
After Ford and Healy 2 happens were does this Division go there’s always a lot of option for title fights but we need to start seeing this division getting built somewhat like the lightweights.
If Ford losses were does he go from there? How far down the ladder does he go (back down to a rematch with Sorenson who keeps asking for it? That wouldn’t make any sense) so really what would be next for the Real Deal – he would almost be in a Kimbo position.
The middleweight division is the most unbalanced division in the MFC. They need to hire a Janitor and clean this up from top to bottom. With a little bit of concentration on the middleweight division this could have some of the most exciting fighters and fights. There not to small to lose interest and there not big enough to be slow! They need to strip their current champion in Patrick Cote because he will not be able to defend the title as he is scheduled to fight for the UFC middleweight championship late this October.
Notes in the middleweight division:
I know they just signed Joey Gorczynski (13-3) who’s on a six fight winning streak. This guy can throw down and I can’t wait until his MFC debut. But why aren’t these guys signed!
Let me help out the matchmakers:
Bryan “The Beast” Baker (7-1) – Raul Castillo (5-0) – Ryan Thomas (9-2) – Johnny Rees (10-1) Crafton Wallace (16-3), the list goes on.
I want to see all the middleweights that can strike! The 185lbs would be an awesome division with a bunch of strikers. That’s just my opinion. Chris Camozzi (9-2) he needs to start fighting better opponents and bring back the man that beat him in the MFC Jesse Forbes (he showed a lot of heart)
The future of the MFC lightweight division will be determined at MFC 19: Long Time Coming with these two rumored fights. Joe Heilend who was supposed to fight Sanchez at MFC 18 but Sanchez had border problems. At MFC 19 Heiland (10-0) is rumoured to take on Derrick Noble (25-11) Noble was a killer at 170 with a win over Thiago Alves much like Heiland was a killer at 170. This is a very interesting match-up as both guys are making their debut’s at 155lbs. Marrini (6-1) is rumoured to face newest MFC signing a rising star from costa rica in Ariel Sexton (5-1). The winner of each match-up will face one another for the vacant MFC world lightweight championship.
Let’s talk about Ryan Jimmo (7-1) who used to be Roger Hollett’s training partner – now what a great controversy and fight that would be if Jimmo keeps winning and Hollett successfully defends his title? I’m always thinking! Since Heath as another fight on his contract and fight with Jimmo on the next card would be another huge fight for the end of the year card!
I know I shouldn’t be writing this but I’m to loyal to my readers and everyone wants to know!
